Ka Hou Chan

Dr. Ka Hou Chan has performed extensively in North America, Russia, Italy, Germany, Austria, and has also appeared as soloist in many prestigious international music festivals. Chan had the honours to give recitals at renowned concert halls such as the Carnegie Hall (Weill Recital Hall) in the United States, Stiftung Mozarteum Wiener Saal in Salzburg, the Ed Landrath Symphony Hall in Fort Worth, The Sheremetev Palace in St. Petersburg, etc. 

Dr. Chan has been sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Macau SAR Government to further his musical studies abroad in the US. In addition, he has been also receiving full scholarships and prestigious “Special Talent Music Awards” from Arizona State University Herberger School of Music as well as from Texas Christian University School of Music. From 2017 to 2022, Chan was appointed to be a teaching assistant and guest accompanist respectively at the two universities mentioned above. Chan received his piano lessons with Professor Jun Yang ( the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing) in his youth.. Dr. Chan mainly studied under the tutelage of Dr. Baruch Meir (the founder and artistic director of the Bösendorfer International Piano Competition), and Mr. John Owings (pupil of the legendary pianist Wilhelm Kempff). Meanwhile, Chan was blessed to receive piano lessons from the renowned Dr. Yoheved Kaplinsky (chair of the piano department at The Juilliard School). 

 

Dr. Chan is an enthusiastic piano teacher and research scholar. He appeared as lecturer and presenter at numerous national academic conference in the US. His piano students continued to win many important competitions in both Macau, China and overseas. Currently, Chan serves as a part-time music instructor at Macau Polytechnic University Faculty of Arts and Design.
