Uly was born in Macau and is a percussionist, theatre artist, and composer. He graduated from the Taipei University of the Arts and then continued his studies for a master's degree at the Geneva Conservatory of Music. Uly focuses on collaborating with contemporary composers and is interested in experimenting with and developing the diversity of percussion music. This includes exploring the relationship between visual art, electronic music, and percussion with Spanish composer Pablo Andrés, as well as collaborating with Belgian composer Nicolas Roulive to study the sound characteristics and differences between non-traditional and traditional instruments. He also worked with visual artist Behzard Dehno to create a street installation titled 《The Speech》 which was exhibited in the city center of Rome, Italy.
Uly's interdisciplinary work 《Force》inspired by Taekwondo, was performed at the Taipei Theatre Centre. His electronic music and vocal piece 《Time》was presented at the Guandu Arts Festival in Taipei. Recently, Uly's latest composition is a solo piece for three bass drums and electronic music, which he will perform at his master's graduation concert at the Geneva Conservatory of Music.
