Lao Hong is a pianist and music educator from Macau, possessing extensive experience in both performance and teaching. He obtained his Bachelor of Music with Honours and Master of Music in Piano Performance from the Royal Northern College of Music in the UK, studying under renowned instructors such as Dina Parakhina and Richard Ormrod. Additionally, he has received guidance from several international piano masters, including Stephen Hough, Michel Beroff, and Nelson Goerner.
In terms of performance, Lao has held numerous solo recitals in the UK, Japan, and mainland China, and has collaborated with orchestras to perform piano concertos by Haydn and Tchaikovsky. He is also actively engaged in chamber music and accompanying performances, having received awards in the Liszt, Mozart, and Beethoven Young Pianists Competitions in Macau.
Currently serving as a piano instructor at the Macao Polytechnic University, Lao has over twenty years of teaching experience. He has taught at the Macao Conservatory of Music and various schools in the UK, with students spanning different age groups, emphasizing a balanced development of musical expression and technical skills.
Looking to the future, Lao aims to continue refining his skills in performance and teaching, dedicated to promoting local music education and cultural exchange.
